WHERE IT BEGAN
BUILT THROUGH HARD WORK, FAITH AND LASTING RELATIONSHIPS
Basson Workwear began more than 30 years ago when Steyn Basson's father opened a small footwear shop in Church Street, Wellington. The move into safety footwear followed when a local farmer asked for vellies for his team. Recognising the opportunity, Steyn borrowed the money he needed and began building a business around dependable products, personal service and lasting relationships.
In 2007 the business moved into premises behind Shoprite, where some of today's longest-serving team members joined the journey. A year later Basson Workwear relocated to Stokery Road. As demand grew, the company expanded beyond footwear into workwear, PPE and specialised services.
In 2020 an in-house factory was established to manufacture products that were difficult to source. After a devastating fire destroyed the factory in 2023, the management team and staff rebuilt with faith and determination. The business emerged stronger, adding its own embroidery capability and continuing to invest in local people and local production.
