To most people, leather is just… well, leather. However, did you know that there are many different kinds of leather? Today we will be looking at two of them:
- Nubuck leather
- Horse leather
Nubuck leather is top-grain cattle leather that has been sanded or buffed on the grain side (outside) to give a slight nap of short protein fibres, producing a velvet-like surface.
Horse leather is made of fibrous, flat connective tissue beneath the hide on the rump of a horse. It is perfect for work conditions due to its strength, longevity, and durability.
We all love the idea of the perfect shoe with the perfect durability but just like everything else we own; it requires TLC if you are interested in prolonging the life span of your leather goods.
